If you’re feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or like your mind won’t switch off, you’re not alone.
Stress can show up in many ways, from racing thoughts and irritability to tight shoulders, a knotted stomach or poor sleep. You might feel exhausted yet wired, or notice that even small things feel harder to cope with than they used to.
A lot of this stress isn’t caused by what’s happening in the understanding part of your mind. It often comes from the primitive part of the brain that is constantly scanning for danger.
This part of the brain is designed to keep us safe. It reacts quickly to anything it perceives as a threat, triggering a fight or flight response. In modern life, those threats are rarely physical. They might be pressure at work, difficult relationships or ongoing worries. Even so, the primitive brain responds in the same way, leading to anxiety, tension and disrupted sleep.
In my hypnotherapy practice, I work with this part of the brain rather than trying to override it. Together, we explore your personal stress triggers and how your mind and body respond to them. This allows me to help calm those automatic reactions, creating a greater sense of ease, balance and emotional regulation.
This approach isn’t about forcing calm or ignoring what you’re feeling. It’s about understanding your stress response at a deeper level and gently guiding your nervous system back towards a state of safety and relaxation.
